Frequently asked questions
Vung Tau is the nearest. The car ride takes 1.5 hours. There are finer beaches around 40 kilometres north of Vung Tau in an area known as Ho Tram, with extremely excellent resorts. If you want a quiet holiday with no shops or town, just a beach and a resort, consider Melia Ho Tram Beach Resort or The Grand Ho Tram Strip, which is set to become an InterContinental soon and has a golf course.
It is actually not that difficult to find a decent resort at that price in Mui Ne, which is considered Vietnam’s Kingdom of Resorts with a large number of four-starred resorts scattered along its shoreline. Ananda Resort, TTC Ke Ga, Mui Ne Bay Resort, starting from only 1,000,000 (USD 50) per night. Their bungalows may cost slightly more, at USD 70 and above.
The majority of resorts in Da Nang have a private beach. If you’re into surfing, the period between May and October will be the best. Some resorts which have a beautiful private beach are InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort, Hyatt Regency Danang Resort and Spa, Furama Resort Danang, Premier Village Danang Resort. Stay clear of Danang between mid-October to the end of February since hurricanes tend to hit this part of Vietnam during this time of the year.
I don't believe you can do any snorkelling in Phan Thiet nor Mui Ne. However, you may participate in water activities such as kiteboarding, windsurfing, and surfing. Ca Na beach, however, is a snorkelling attraction near Mui Ne. It is 32 kilometres south of Phan Rang and roughly 100 kilometres (2 hours by bus) from Mui Ne. With its magnificent, unspoiled coral reefs, Ca Na is regarded to have the greatest snorkelling and scuba diving spots in Vietnam. There are, however, relatively few facilities, with just a few resorts offering services and boats.
Nha Trang is busier, more touristy, and definitely more expensive. The beaches in Nha Trang are also clearer than in Phan Thiet. Nha Trang resorts are also more luxurious with brands like Six Senses, Amiana and Mia. By contrast, beach resorts here are less diverse than in Phan Thiet - Mui Ne. If you prefer remoteness and tranquillity, Phan Thiet - Mui Ne, with a wide range of budget resorts, is a to-go destination.
There are quite a few options in Nha Trang. The first is Thap Ba Hot Springs, which is one of the more affordable options. There are a variety of services offered at various prices, the cheapest of which being VND 200,000 (USD 9.5). You will receive 15 minutes in a public mud bath as well as access to additional amenities such as the mineral waterfall, and swimming pool. I-Resort, a considerably more upscale option, is an alternative. VND 3,000,000 (USD 132.00) is the price of the VIP package, which includes a full body massage, a 45-minute dip in a private mud bath, a private mineral pool to relax in while feasting on the complimentary fresh fruit plate, and a 45-minute soak in a private mud bath.
During the winter, there is a significant difference between north and south Vietnam. It is bitterly cold in the north and pleasantly sunny in the south, making it ideal for a day at the beach in the Southern provinces. Ho Tram, which bristles with luxurious resorts like Melia Ho Tram Beach Resort or The Grand Ho Tram Strip, Mui Ne, which has many budget resorts suitable for long stays, and Nha Trang, which is gifted with crystal clear beaches, are to-go destinations.
There are several beach bars around An Bang Beach. Take your pick as you walk along the shore. Salt Pub, Soul Beach, Soul Kitchen, and Kahunas are highly recommended. Bear in mind that the majority of beach bars, however, are not air-conditioned.
You can take into consideration VinPearl Resort & Spa, which has an infinity pool overlooking the beach, 5 restaurants to choose from, as well as a spa. A more luxurious option is VinPearl Luxury Nha Trang, which is just next to the pier. Both of these resorts are located in the proximity of VinPearl Land, one of Vietnam’s largest playgrounds.
Hoi An is busier than Nha Trang following its dense appearance in global tourism magazines and newspapers. Nha Trang and Hoi An are totally different from each other regarding all of the aspects listed above. Nha Trang’s strength is its crystal clear beaches and resorts, while Hoi An is more about cultural experience. Hoi An does not have many upscale resorts like Nha Trang.
